Many systems of spiritual teaching are “perennial philosophy” and hark back to the Neo-Platonic cycle of “the One.” Once any particular system moves beyond its structural and intellectual aspects, it transforms into something that is emotional and transcendent. At that point all of these teachings, or systems of unity, will then intersect. Applied Unity is the practical application of these intersecting paths. From Michael Teachings, Ra Material, Seth, Sufism, Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism or Christian mysticism and then forward, into the next generation that Seeks. This is now “open source spirituality” — all paths, all applications, all understandings of the One and where they merge.
My background is strongly Michael Teachings (MT)– as such there is material in the Repository that represents that. Also, MT was originally given into the public domain by the group that produced them and can be offered without copyright infringement. At the same time, my interests in spiritual teachings are very wide ranging and I eventually pursued a Masters of Arts degree in Religion and Ethics. Still, the longer I spent doing spiritual growth the more I realized that most “perennial philosophy” type teachings brought me to the same place: Unity.
In reality, the Michael Teachings, and several others produced in the 1970s-1980s, have passed into literature, they are in a format no longer easily accessible. They belong to Silent Gen, Boomers and Gen X; the past. They were intellectually centered, big on definitions, and long on description. None of which fits an audience of current, or future, generations — which appear to be headed in an emotional/energetic format and without a teacher or channel at the middle. More simple, more straight forward, more intensely individual. To serve these upcoming students on the Path I distilled the many teachings I know into 7 principles of “open source spirituality” as listed on the right sidebar.
Please note that I am transitioning the original appliedunity.com to this site, so this is currently “under construction.”
